Micro-influencers have smaller audiences than big creators, and that is often their advantage. People know them, trust them and reply to them. This guide covers how to make content that holds attention, and how to present your work so brands want to hire you.
Pick two or three content pillars
A content pillar is a topic you return to again and again. Two or three pillars keep your page easy to understand. A skincare creator might use "routines", "product reviews" and "ingredient explainers". Followers learn what to expect, and brands can see where their product fits.
Hook viewers in the first two seconds
Most viewers decide almost immediately whether to keep watching. Open with the result, a question or a surprising line, and save the introduction for later. Good hooks include:
- The result first: "This is what my skin looks like after four weeks."
- A question the viewer already has: "Is this serum worth ₹800?"
- A clear promise: "Three mistakes that make your reels flop."
Make one point per video
Short videos work best with a single idea. If you have three points, make three videos. Cut pauses, trim the end and add captions, since many people watch without sound.
Post consistently, then study what works
A steady schedule you can keep is better than a burst you cannot. Every couple of weeks, look at your own numbers:
- Which videos were watched to the end most often?
- Which were saved or shared?
- Which got real comments, not just emojis?
Make more of what works. Saves and shares usually say more about usefulness than likes do.
Talk to your community
Reply to comments, especially in the first hour after posting. Ask questions at the end of videos and answer them in the next one. This builds the community trust that brands pay for.
Present yourself well to brands
When you apply to a campaign, a short pitch beats a long one. Include:
- Who your audience is, in a sentence.
- One or two past posts that fit the campaign.
- What you would make, for example "one Reel plus three story frames".
- Your price and how long it will take.
- How many revision rounds you include.
Know your numbers
Keep a simple record of your average reach, saves and engagement rate. The engagement rate is (likes + comments + shares + saves) ÷ reach × 100. Brands value creators who can show real figures and explain them.
Protect yourself on payment
Agree deliverables, deadlines and the payment trigger in writing before you start. Prefer brands that fund the deal first. On Rekonio, the brand funds the deal before you begin, and the payout is released to your wallet when your work is approved. You can then withdraw to your bank account or UPI.
A simple weekly routine
- Monday: plan three video ideas from your content pillars.
- Tuesday and Wednesday: film and edit in batches.
- Thursday to Saturday: post, and reply to comments in the first hour.
- Sunday: check which videos got saves and shares, and write down what to repeat.
